Short One

A short one.

Went over to ss2 Murni with two of my friends for dinner. Never expected to meet one my Taylors Business School Foundation classmate after 3 years (I think) and lucky there is 3 seats just nice for us. Also, saw one of the famous blogger I frequently read, fourfeetnine just right opposite me (or is the person have almost the same resemblance? She is really tiny!!!! Then went over to Jusco Sunway where we thought of buying a bottle of wine. However, the store was closed as we reached there around 10.20p.m. Then we head to my friends house and finished up his Bacardi Superior and mahjong till 3.00a.m.

1 Litre of Tears

It's been quite some time since I left this site rot by its own. Nevertheless, I'll post more often here once landing in Adelaide which will be in less than a month time.

Have any of you come across the term "spinocerebellar degeneration"? It is a terrible disease where the cerebellum of the brain gradually deteriorates the person's nerves gradually to the point where the victim cannot walk, speak, write, or eat. A cruel disease, as it does not affect the mind in the least.

Based on a true story, One Litre of Tears is about the life story Kitou Aya (1962-1988) a girl who had an incurable disease called Spinocerebellar Degeneration Disease (also known as SCA type 2; spinocerebellar ataxia type 2)at a young age of 15. Although the girl in the drama - Ikeuchi Aya, lived in the 21st century, her character was based on Kitou Aya's life, how she struggled and fought her disease and how she wrote her deepest thoughts until the last day she could hold a pen. Before she died, her writings were published including the poems she wrote while she is staying in a school for the disabled. This gave new hopes to people who suffers the same disease as she did and soon Aya received letters of appreciation and thanks from those people. At the age of 25, she succumbed herself into a sleep where she could no longer feel any pain.
The book that later followed entitled “One Liter of Tears" has sold over 1.1 million copies.

I know its quite slow for me to notice this drama as it came out in late 2005 and I just finished watching it last week. Probably one of the best japanese drama I've watched so far. Upon reaching episode 6 till the end of the series, my eyes were watery. Looking at how she struggles in her daily life taught me to appreciate everything I have now and not to be greedy, demanding for more.

Some of my favourite quotes from the drama
- Why did the disease choose me? I cannot carry it, if it’s just for the word “fate”.

- “As I think about the past,
the tears will come out.
Reality is too cruel, too brutal.
I don’t even have the right to dream.
As I think about the future,
the tears will come out again.”

- Even though I have been hurt before by those heartless glares this also helped me to understand that around me, there still exists some gentle glares. Therefore, I definitely won't run away. That's what I'll do. Definitely. Always.

Resurrection

It seems like I've abandoned this blog for quite some time. This is due to my busy lifestyle after landing down on the 9th of December earlier last week. Lets start off when I was still in Australia where some of my housemates and I finished up a bottle of Black Label and my room turned into a mess. Cards and toilet papers were scattered everywhere. My clothes were hung on the ceiling lamp and I accidentally broke one of the two lamps when I was trying to take my jeans off from it.

I had to settle my new house's rent agreement before 6th of December where I had to travel to and flow to the city. I started to pack my things which took me quite some time before flying to Melbourne. While I was packing, I smiled foolishly flashing back at the past events happened to me. Overall, there were more ups than downs.

My room, just a few minutes before leaving.

My flight was 8.00 in the morning and I called the cab around 5.45. Reaching the airport, I checked the meter used and a total of AUD25++ was shown. This is the first time I'm traveling alone on an airplane, definitely a new experience for me. At around 7.30, an announcement was made about my flight that it will be delay to 9.00. I was feeling frustrated, sleepy and hungry at the same time, thus, I grab myself a Hungry Jack's meal.

Arriving at Melbourne, I was greeted by both of my grandparents and my uncle from my mother's side. Reaching their house, I was also greeted by Suki. It kept licking and smelling my feet once I step in the house's compound.

I slept in my baby cousin's room while he and my aunt was away in China. I was accompanied at night with Winnie the Pooh family and glowing stars.

After spending 3 days and 2 nights there stuffing my stomach with delicious food, I had to fly back to Malaysia with Air Asia. An 8 hours flight with small seating and uncomfortable chair leading to a almost 90 degrees backbone positing prove to be one of the toughest challenge for me.

Another thing is, Ive checked my results on the super slow internet connection speed with streamyx and I manage to pass all the subjects. From that point onwards, I knew that two third on my degree journey just ended and hopefully by next year, everything will go smoothly. Finally, a rest day for me today, after coming back to Malaysia. Not going out to anywhere today.

Finally

Sorry for the lack of updates. This is due to my busy schedule which occupies most of my time traveling in the bus or walking from places to places.

Lets start off with Saturday night, 28th of November. Went to Red Square from 11.30pm till around 5.30am. The atmosphere was over happening with so many people around which leads to so little space to move. Anyway, the nice songs only came around 2.30am and my mood quickly swings from negative to positive. Also, Ive spent a total of AUD95.00 for entrance fees (AUD15.00) and others on drinks. Met one of my FP and BIS classmate but only manage to talk to my BIS classmates for a short moment. Wanted to say "Hi" to my FP classmate but she was quite busy with her female friend. Overall was a tiring day..

Then the next day, I barely slept for 4 hours and I had to go out for a house inspection again.

On Monday, I went for two other house inspection which eats up half of the day.

Yesterday, I went for my final house inspection in Norwood around 10.30am and then I head back to the city to have sushi as lunch. Finally, some of my friends and I went to Kowloon Restaurant to celebrate Suzanne Siah's birthday. (Definitely recommend the butter chicken). After that, we went over to Glenelg to chill for a while before heading back home. Upon reaching home, I though I will be able to sleep but, some people barge into my room with a bottle of Jack Daniels and a bottle of wine. In the end, my room became like a mental ward and I broke one of the lamp. Luckily, I was able to control myself and I was almost at my limit because of the heavy dinner and ice-cream in Glenelg earlier. This made my stomach superbly full. We slept around 6.00am.

Today, I woke up around 8.30am to clean my room and do some stuffs. Then, I went over to uni to print some documents in order to rent a property and head to Gillies Street to hand in the documents. Hopefully, I'll be able to get the house.

This post took me 10 minutes which you can see that the style of words used were different from my previous posts. Will be updating after reaching Malaysia.

Semester 4 Down

A short update.

The moment one of the exam instructor said "All of you have to stop writing now unless you have an Entext indicator marked at your student ID, you have 30 minutes left", semester 4 in UniSA degree program ends for me on Tuesday night. This marks another step towards graduation at the end of next year if everything goes smoothly.

Overall, I knew I did quite O.K for this semester. For most of my housemates, this will be their end of UniSA degree program journey after 3 years, completing more than 50 assignments and sitting more than 20 papers.

I'm gonna eat more now because whenever I posted my pictures in my family blog, my mum keeps nagging me saying that I've got a lot thinner

Realize people here are actually very helpful.

Random

Caught this spring scenery coming back home after 2 papers. Took the direct bus, 232 home which was around 45 minutes.
Its at Fussell Pl, less than 1km from Buller Terrace. That day, the temperature marks 22 degrees at 10.30a.m., so, I was lucky enough to see them.

Alright, back to completing my Financial Planning cheat sheet.

Two

Done 2 subjects, BCB and DSM on Monday, 16th. BCB was really easy but DSM is making me headache. I went into the exam hall with full of confidence before DSM paper but, there was a downward slopping of my confidence level right when I looked at Section-B. The paper proved to be the toughest paper I've faced so far (I should have taken it in Malaysia) and I'm not sure I might pass this one through. This time, I did not race against time like all my previous papers cause I don't know what to write for most of the part.

2 more to go and I'm done with my fourth semester in UniSA degree program. Of course I promised myself to work harder by attending MOST of the lectures and tutorials.

4 hours ago it was topped at 42.6 degrees!!! Luckily, I was in Uni and I did not miss the train back home after that. Now, I can hear thunderstorm and strong wind blowing. This ain't spring at all...One thing good is next week, the weather forecast shows the best weather (if it does not rain).

Back to studies....

Chapter 28

For the past week, I've been traveling between Alberton and uni. I did that too for in my previous semester since entering into UniSA degree program. Noticed that uni these days seems to be packed with people compared to my previous semester, the week before exam commence. Also, you don't see anyone aged forty or above still studying in uni in Malaysia but we can see them here. I, myself definitely cannot do it upon reaching that age.

Why did I go to uni? First is because I felt that I could study better with less distraction compared to being at home and to escape the heatwave that struck Adelaide for the past 2 weeks. Even two of my housemates brought their pillow to stay overnight in the air-conditioned uni. For the past few days, I was sleeping with only my shorts. So, imagine the burning sensation here. I wonder why must it be in Adelaide? Other states such as Melbourne or Brisbane were not this bad.

Had stomach upset for the past few days. Probably because of the expired Coles marinated chicken. Till now, my stomach still feels like a mixer. Thankfully, I felt much better as days pass and hopefully, I will be completely cured by 16th November 2009.

3 more days to final exam, 12 more days to complete my fourth semester, 26 more days to fly back Malaysia. Which day must I look forward to? My first day of exam of course.

Chapter 27

With the temperature marking between 25 to 39 degrees here in Adelaide, I was perspiring from head to toe. Even Malaysia's temperature topped at 37 degrees (I think). Seriously, from my head to toe and I wonder how people survive without fan or air-cond with the current condition. Anyhow, I barely manage to pass through few days like this until yesterday night. It was like hell for me with my whole body began to perspire even after taking shower 3 times a day!!!

Lastly, I could not tolerate any longer with the heat affecting my studies by burning my brain cells. I Google up for pedestal fan around Alberton and found a shop selling them for AUD $19.98 (the cheapest) within walking distance. Decided to walk there next morning. Upon reaching there, I demand for the item from a sales girl but she said that it was sold out yesterday. My morale fall tremendously and I asked the store's catalogue. Found another fan which cost AUD $29.98 but it was out of stock too. Then, I demand for the cheapest fan or mini air conditioner and she showed me a AUD$39.95. I'm not going to waste my effort walking under 30++ degrees for 15 minutes and not purchasing anything.

And I gambled my way home because I lost the paper that used to point me the way to the shop.

Here it is

Within 5 minutes, it was assembled.

Moreover, the number of insects began to outnumber humans. Upon stepping out from my house, A few flies swarming around my face and it's really annoying. Of course, my bedroom too became nest for those creatures. Caught more than 5 insects for the past week. 3 spiders included and mind you, the spiders here are 3 times the size of spiders in Malaysia.

New food for the past week. Coles Marinated chicken+ bok choy + rice.

Alright, one more hour and I'll have to travel alone to Clarence Park for my new house's inspection. Hopefully everything is fine there.
